Brocade Communications Systems was a technology company specializing in data and storage networking products. Their innovative solutions helped organizations transition smoothly to a world where applications and information reside anywhere.

Brocade Switches

Brocade's Ethernet switches were well-known for their exceptional reliability, scalability, and value, making them a solid choice for businesses of any size.

  • The Brocade ICX Series of switches was designed to provide compact, scalable, and cost-effective solutions for a variety of network environments. For instance, the ICX 7750 Switch was a high-density, aggregation switch with a stacking architecture that offered chassis-level performance and reliability in a flexible, stackable form factor.

  • The VCS Fabric technology from Brocade brought about a new kind of network architecture to create efficient, agile, and reliable Ethernet fabrics. The VDX series of switches were known for their capability to understand the requirements of specific applications and adapt network behavior accordingly.

Brocade Routers

Brocade's routers were known for their high-performance capabilities and were used by large-scale Internet service providers and enterprises.

  • The Brocade MLX Series was designed to meet these demands by providing unparalleled scalability, performance, and reliability. The MLX routers offered advanced routing, IPv4/IPv6, multicast, and MPLS capabilities making them a suitable fit for large-scale service provider networks.

  • The Brocade vRouter was a software-based networking solution that offered advanced routing and security features. It was designed to be agile and flexible, making it ideal for cloud-based environments.

After its acquisition by Broadcom in 2017, the Brocade brand has been retired, but the technologies and product lines developed by the company continue to be recognized for their high-quality and innovative features. Many of the product lines are now supported and developed further by other companies who took over different portions of Brocade's product portfolio.
