The Dell PowerConnect 8024 is a powerful network switch designed to support large, highly-scalable networks. Featuring ever increasing port speeds combined with robust stacking and security features, the 8024 ensures any highly-mobile or expanding network will have the bandwidth and flexibility it needs for peak performance. The Dell PowerConnect 8024 offers 24 auto-sensing 1/10GBase-T ports and two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Each port is capable of speeds up to 10Gb/s which ensures network expansion can happen quickly and efficiently. The two dedicated 10GbE ports are designed for high bandwidth application while the remaining ports offer up to 2.5Gbps of traffic each. As a result, the PowerConnect 8024 easily handles large scale network deployments. In addition, the PowerConnect 8024 offers an upgradeable feature set allowing users to dynamically expand their 1GbE/10GbE connections without purchasing additional switches. With the optional 10G Standard Stacking Module installed, connected switches in the stack are able to synchronize configuration changes, quickly balancing resources while continuing to provide maximum uptime. Network security is handled by the IEEE 802.1X standards; none of its ports can be used until authenticated with a RADIUS server. Additionally, each port has an embedded packet filter which can be used to segment traffic based on source or destination addresses. This ensures data passing through the switch remains secure. Finally, the 8024 supports energy efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) to help maximize energy use making it one of the most power efficient switches on the market.
